Vintage Notes
Vintage Ports are among the longest-lived wines produced anywhere. With a limited 3000 case production, this special “Vintage Charactek” is a blend of the finest wines from the producer in Portugal. Martinez was founded in 1790 by Spaniard Sebastian Gonzalez Martines who sold Port, Sherry, and Cigars in London. By 1849 The Martinez company was the largest shipper of Port to the UK. Port is generally made from these top five black varieties, although over 80 varieties are allowed: Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franc, Tinta Cao, and Tinta Barroca.
